  2. OUR CHARACTERISTICS

Japanese School of Abu Dhabi is officially authorized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and
Technology of Japan (MEXT), as a school following the Educational Curriculum of Japan.
The school has a proud history of providing outstanding education stretching back
37 years, and pupils who have graduated from our school are regarded to be conferred the
graduation degree of Japanese Elementary or Junior High School.

The school is evaluated as Band A, Grade 3, in the inspection of the Abu Dhabi Education
Council (ADEC), and has received favorable reviews for our pupils・behavior, effort to learn,
and sense of responsibility.

All of our teachers are sent by MEXT, and they are distinguished enough to pass the exams
and interviews of each prefecture, and even the interview by MEXT. Therefore our school can provide
better education. Many teachers sent by MEXT are male.

There are 10 students in a class at our school, so teachers can give more individual attention
to students to provide educational and daily life guidance thoroughly to all.

As the size of one classroom is around 10 students and each grade has only one class, we can give them more
individual attention and the specific guidance they need. This gives the teachers the opportunity to get to know
the students' characters and teach them effectively, not only in class but also with other school matters.

Our school is mixed, so pupils study together for all subjects, including Physical Education and Swimming.

Pupils do not allowed to eat snacks at school. The most distinctive feature of our school is "cleaning time."
They clean their own classrooms and hallways so that they become considerate individuals and also to develop their work ethic.

There are always 4 NPO staffs to take care of national students to support the classes of Japanese Language and Mathematics
and to give supplementary lessons after school.

The school provides staff who speak both Arabic and English for communication and
coordination with parents of national students.

The Japanese Kindergarten School has three grades (KG1 to KG3) and is for pupils from the
age of 3. Each grade has one teacher in charge.

The School holds a variety of school activities and Japanese cultural events, e.g. Japanese
Summer Festival, Kakizome (first calligraphy of the year) Festival, and Hyakunin-Isshu
(the Hundred Poems by One Hundred Poets Card Game). It also celebrates special events such
as the UAE National Day Event.

The teachers come out to meet and greet pupils coming to school in the morning and going home
in the afternoon by bus. Also, we practice disaster drills every month.
